AMDC

Lavrion Technology and Cultural Park (LTCP) operates as an individual legal entity of private right under the corporate name of “National Technical University of Athens Asset Management and Development Corporation (NTUA-AMDC/LTCP).
AMDC/LTCP is an organization for the promotion of cooperation among scientific research, education, business, and cultural communities. It aims at linking scientific and technological research, conducted in Athens, with the needs and interests of the entrepreneurial world. Since 1998, when LTCP started its operations, more than 50 companies have been incubated in the park. Furthermore, NTUA’s research and educational activities, mainly those related to the broader area, are hosted in the LTCP. The services provided by the LTCP as well as its renovated facilities, continue to support research, education and technology.
The LTCP is, moreover, an inviting site for multiple events and activities. Music concerts and science/art exhibitions, cinema and video shootings, workshops and shows, congresses, seminars, lectures, campaigns, of almost any character, have taken place in its Congress halls and open spaces in the 20 years of its operation.

The Erzgebirgische Fluss- und Schwerspatwerke GmbH (EFS) operates the Niederschlag mine and the wet-mechanical processing plant in Aue, Saxony, Germany. Currently the Niederschlag mine is the only producing fluorspar mine in Saxony. Main focus of the EFS in the project is sustainable underground mining by implementing advanced mobility through autonomous and electrified vehicles, and operational excellence.

fraunhofer EZRt

The Fraunhofer Development Center X-ray Technology EZRT is a division of the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS. Researchers from a wide variety of disciplines conduct applied research and development in the field of non-destructive monitoring along the product life cycle, from raw materials to production and recycling. The basis of the research work is the development of cognitive sensor systems for data acquisition using X-ray and magnetic resonance technologies as well as optical Inspection techniques. Modern cognitive sensor systems generate an extensive amount of data from which information can be extracted in a targeted manner using intelligent software-based methods. These are then linked with further meta data in order to integrate the collected sensor data and their evaluation into an application-specific context. The knowledge generated and processed this way enables our customers to make well-founded, data-based decisions quickly.

Frontier Innovation Centre (FRON) is a private non-profit research organization. FRON has been founded by a team of people who have long and extensive experience in the management of ICT projects. Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU)

The Hellenic Mediterranean University (also known as HMU) is a public educational institution with more than 15,000 students, 11 Departments, 5 Schools, and a total of 11 Schools. The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department’s PASIPHAE Group is involved with MINE.IO. This group has an abundance of experience with H2020 and Horizon projects. Since its founding in 2004, the Pasiphae Group has participated in numerous projects funded by the European Union’s Framework Programmes 5, 6, 7, and Horizon 2020, with a focus on information and communication technology (ICT), health, and safety.

ICCS

ICCS (Institute of Communication and Computer Systems) is a non-profit research institute established in 1989 by the Ministry of Education of Greece and the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens in order to promote research and development activities in all aspects of computer and telecommunications systems and their applications. In mine.io the Information Management Unit (IMU, http://imu.iccs.gr) will be participating. IMU is active in research in data analytics, knowledge management, cloud and edge computing and AI-driven decision support. INESC TEC is a private non-profit research association, with Public Interest status, dedicated to scientific research and technological development, technology transfer, advanced consulting and training, and pre-incubation of new technology-based companies.

KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.

KGHM Polska Miedź S.A has been a major global copper and silver producer for 60 years. The Polish copper deposits – among the biggest in the world – are mined by three underground mines: Lubin, Polkowice-Sieroszowice, and Rudna. The extracted material is enriched in concentrator plants, while the production of metals as copper, silver, gold, lead, and others take place in metallurgical facilities: Copper Smelter/Refineries in Głogów and Legnica and the Cedynia Wire Rod Plant. Apart from the metals mentioned, the mines of the KGHM Group also produce molybdenum, nickel, palladium, and platinum. The KGHM Group ranks among the world’s largest producers of silver and copper and employs a total of around 34 thousand people. It is also the only company in Europe producing rhenium and ammonium perrhenate from its own resources.

Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Innovative Technologies EMAG

Our institution is a leader of the Competence Centre within the Łukasiewicz Research Network in the area of artificial intelligence and cyber security. Łukasiewicz-EMAG is one of the members of Silesia Smart Systems, the Polish EDIH, a one-stop shop that supports companies in improving their business/production processes, products or services using digital technologies. Łukasiewicz – EMAG specialises in applied computer science, technical informatics and information technologies. The core activities of the institute are broadly understood cyber security, artificial intelligence, data analysis (including decision support systems), IoT (mainly in the areas of Industry 4.0, Smart Cities and Intelligence Building). Furthermore, Łukasiewicz-EMAG provides services related to the optimisation and design of digital public services. In addition, it offers laboratory and design testing, as well as services related to the development of attestation and technical opinions and the issuance of certificates of conformity.

Muon Solutions

We are undertaking the pioneering task of innovating waterproof muon detectors, capable of withstanding intense underwater pressures. This innovation opens uncharted avenues for muography applications in underwater environments, making underwater exploration more efficient and safer. Together with our partners, we will meticulously engineer the detectors to be transportable by underwater ROVs, while also considering the complexities of data transfer. In addition, we will further develop our software to enhance data handling, interpretation, and visualisation.

Politecnico di Torino (PoliTO) is an esteemed Italian academic institution that boasts of a team of experts from the Department of Environmental, Land and Infrastructure Engineering (DIATI) with a well-diversified background in the raw materials industry. The DIATI team possesses a wealth of knowledge in various aspects of the industry, ranging from exploration and extraction to processing and recycling. DIATI possesses expertise in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Circular Economy, and Criticality Indicators as well as Techno-economic assessment and life cycle cost. TECNALIA Research & Innovation

TECNALIA RESEARCH & INNOVATION is a private, independent, non profit applied research center of international excellence. Legally a Foundation, Tecnalia is the leading private and independent research and technology organisation in Spain and one of the largest in Europe. In an increasingly interconnected and interactive world, Tecnalia DIGITAL unit works on applying technologies for the digital transformation of companies and society. It gathers the teams of artificial intelligence and big data, data analytics and high-performance architectures, cybersecurity, visual technologies, and software development. UNEXMIN GeoRobotics Ltd.

UNEXMIN GeoRobotics Ltd. (UGR) is an R&D and commercial technology service provider capable of significantly extending the framework for mineral exploration and data acquisition methods through innovative robotic solutions.
In the short term, we plan to utilize our exclusive licensing rights to the UX autonomous underwater robotic platform, targeting commercial flooded mine surveying, exploration, and geoscientific applications.
Looking at the medium term, our goals include expanding and developing this platform by introducing more versatile robotic and geoscientific solutions. Our vision is to combine land, underwater, and airborne robotic surveying technologies into a unique commercial and R&D package, a solution currently absent in the market.
In the long term, we aim to establish a business and R&D ecosystem that bridges the gap between robotic technology providers and the raw materials sector. Our aspiration is to deliver innovative terrestrial, underwater, and planetary technology solutions, along with mineral exploration and extraction services.

University of Oulu (UOULU)

The University of Oulu (UOULU) is involved in Mine.io, with Oulu Mining School (OMS) directing the R&D team and Kerttu Saalasti Institute (KSI) supporting the pilot demonstration.
Oulu Mining School (OMS) is an education and research unit providing cutting-edge teaching and R&D across the mining value chain including geology, applied geophysics, mining engineering, and mineral processing. OMS is an internationally recognized centre of excellence with significant global partnerships with universities, research institutes, mining firms, and technology providers.
Kerttu Saalasti Institute (KSI) oversees Callio Lab, a unique underground research environment in the Pyhäsalmi mine in Finland. The underground extraction lasted until Aug-2022, producing zinc, copper, and pyrite mineral concentrates, and is now in the closure phase. The site’s wide historical and ground truth data makes it a valuable reference site, and it is logistically and geographically well positioned, with good network coverage (1 Gbit/s).

University of Salamanca – TIDOP Research Group

The research group TIDOP from the University of Salamanca, belongs to the Department of Cartographic and Research Engineering. Characterized by having a multidisciplinary team including geoinformatics, engineers, mathematicians, and physicians. The research group is focused on three main thematic pillars: geospatial industry, renewable energies and analysis of structures and materials. Within these aspects, it is worth noting the involvement of the research group in the application of geophysical prospecting techniques to the characterization of different mining and energy resources. One of the main strengths of TIDOP is the transfer of technology, with more than 12 patents and 32 intellectual properties.
